If cargo arrives damaged
  1. Note the damage on the delivery documents before you sign anything.
  2. Photograph the container seal, the packaging and the goods before unpacking further.
  3. Tell us immediately — notice to the carrier is time-limited and missing it can defeat a valid claim.

Why Arrange Marine Insurance Through Us

Incoterms read properly

Who bears the risk at which point is decided by the term in your contract, not by who paid for shipping. We read the terms and make sure you are insuring what is actually yours to insure.

Open cover for regular importers

If you ship often, declaring each consignment individually is slow and creates gaps. A standing policy covers everything you declare and is usually cheaper overall.

Beirut port realities

Delays, storage and handling at the port are where a surprising number of claims originate. Cover needs to extend to goods sitting there, not just on the water.

Claims documented from the start

Marine claims turn on survey reports and timely notice to the carrier. We tell you what to do on the day the container opens.

Marine Insurance in Lebanon — Common Questions

Who insures the goods, me or my supplier?

It depends on the Incoterm. Under CIF the seller arranges insurance; under FOB the risk passes to you once the goods are loaded, and it is yours to insure from there. Many disputes come from both sides assuming the other arranged cover. Send us the terms and we will confirm which applies.

What is an open cover and do I need one?

It is a standing policy covering all shipments you declare over a period, rather than arranging cover consignment by consignment. If you import regularly it removes the risk of an unforeseen shipment travelling uninsured, and it usually prices better.

Is war risk included?

Usually not as standard. Given the region, it is worth asking about specifically. It is normally available as an extension, priced separately, and sometimes with route or period conditions attached.
